Modern HST Sampler First Quarter Complete

The first quarter of the Modern HST Sampler is in the books. I am still amazed that I stayed on track so far. I'm usual fall behind at some point and don't ever catch up. But it does help that this QAL isn't every week and I'm using some of my favorite fabrics as well. I love how these are starting to look together and the Essex Yarn Dyed Linen for the background pairs well with Cotton+Steel.

Looking forward to the next quarter!

Scrappy Swell Quilt : A Finished Quilt

March's CEO Club project for me was to complete my brother and sister-in-law's wedding quilt. With two kiddos and I had another wedding quilt prior to theirs, I just didn't get it finished before their wedding in September.

I LOVE the book Simply Retro by Camille Roskelley, so I had chosen the Swell quilt to make for them and at the beginning of the month I had a pile of strips and a practice block pieced.

This quilt wasn't even that difficult to sew or quilt I just didn't really want to work on it. In part I think because it is not my usual fabric/color selection and if I'm not excited about working on a project well it just tends to slowly limp along to the finish line. So my LQS club has really helped motivate me to finish those projects for which I'm no longer excited about to just finish them! Once I started, this was a fun project and I would like to make a Swell quilt for myself someday.

For the quilting I tried to keep it simple with some straight on the diagonal lines through the center portion of the quilt. Then just straight lines for the borders.

Quilt Stats
Pattern: Swell from Simply Retro
Dimensions: 63 inches x 72 inches
Quilting: Diagonal and Straight line quilting
Fabric: various nautical themed prints, Michigan State prints, Detroit sports team prints, and blenders from my stash

Happy Sewing!
