Christmas Cushion Covers

started these cushion covers at the end of October and finished by mid-December, not too bad!

every since i designed my An Actual Pineapple block pattern i have been on a quarter square triangle (QST) kick. so why not make my Christmas cushion covers with my favorite block of the moment, plus it is a timeless look.

i used a charm pack of Sweetwater fabrics line called Hometown Christmas Edition. i just love the look of this fabric. it has a Christmas vibe without screaming Christmas, so i can leave this out for a good portion of winter or until i want Valentines decor out.

for the background i used whatever linen type fabric i had on hand. i started with my favorite standby some Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in Black by Robert Kaufman.

i also had this red chambray from Andover Fabrics leftover from some shorts i made this past summer. this adds a touch of Christmas and now my pillows aren't matchy matchy, just they way i like them!

by the time i got to this pillow, i had used all of the sizable leftovers, so off to the fabric store for me. i picked up this metallic Essex Yarn Dyed Line and love the subtle sparkle.

in order for my pillows to fit my cushions, i added a small pieced border with leftover fabric from my charm pack, coupled with a simple zipper closure and these came together quickly. now to finish my last minute Christmas sewing!

  2. These are really beautiful cushions. I really like the not so Christmasy fabrics and the linen backgrounds.
