Another month, another UFO becomes a completed quilt! For my LQS CEO Club, this Alison Glass quilt was my project to complete and bonus as it was one of my projects for the second quarter for the finish a long! And I don't know why I waited so long to finish this one, since it come together quickly once I got back to working on it. I used the free pattern Charm Pack Cherry Quilt from Fat Quarter Shop.
At the beginning of the month I had the initial strips for the nine patch blocks sewn together. So I took those strips and actually finished the blocks. All in all it took me about a day and half of sewing and cutting (in between caring for kiddos) to get the top done. Like I said, why did it take me so long to finish. I guess I really need to have deadlines to help get my butt in gear when it comes to finishing up quilts.
For the quilting I did a combination of straight line and a serpentine stitch. I divided the quilt into uneven quadrants and in two opposite corners I did quilted by following the outline of the section I was working in. Then in the other quadrants I did a radial from the center. I really love the combination of the straight stitch with the serpentine stitch and the texture it created it amazing!
It is a great feeling to have another quilt done and off my list. Plus I'm all ready doing better this quarter than last quarter with my finishes!! Now to see if I can finish my other projects for the quarter and just a billion other projects floating around in my head.

ReplyDeleteI really like the gray background against the bright colors in this quilt. Makes it more edgy than the expected white.
The quilting looks really great, too. You're right, that combo of straight and serpentine gives a wonderful texture.

DeleteGreat fabric choice! Allison Glass' fabrics pop against the soft gray. I love the quilting - the offset, the straight and squiggly (looking like the bike path print!) - something I can see myself actually doing! I need deadlines, too. Self-imposed or like a holiday or birthday, it all works! Congrats on a lovely finish!
