Last of the Mini Swaps for 2015

I have finished all of my swaps for 2015! I worked this week to finish up extras and stitching on bindings and labels. I'm kinda excited to start sending these mini's out into the world.

First up is my mini for The Most Wonderful Time of the Year 2015 swap.

I was so happy when my partner stated that she liked Holly's Tree Farm by Sweetwater, since I was planning on getting a charm pack anyway it worked perfectly. For this swap I wanted to test the waters and try paper piecing. Oh, how I love paper piecing. Yes, a little time consuming and can be a bit wasteful, but the results are wonderful! I did a practice piece, which I turned into a pillow cover for myself before diving in for my swap.

I used the Circle of Geese block from Piece by Number. I added a border to frame out the block and did some different quilting, which I will be doing again. I love how it turned out and hope my partner will enjoy her new Christmas mini.

Next up, finished my Schnitzel and Boo Mini Quilt Swap.

For this swap I decided to use a pattern that I designed myself. I've had the idea of doing a mini with falling triangles and felt this was the perfect fit for my partner. This is in fact my first solids quilt and I love it. The way I designed the pattern is enough to make two minis to finish at 20x20, so after my machine returns from its maintenance tune-up I'm going to be stitching one of these for myself and maybe write up a pattern for it. I think this would be a great pattern to use for some large throw pillows as well!

This takes care of all of my mini quilt swaps for the year. So far I am only doing two in 2016 and they are craft swaps and due in January. After those, I'm taking time off to finish my own projects and start a handmade wardrobe for myself!

Happy Sewing!

  2. Love your minis. I've used that circle of geese pattern also, it's really nice. I may have to use it again now that I've seen your Christmas version!
