Sunday Lately : Wk. 3

Dwelling
Over the fact that Nora is growing up. She is going to be a big sister in a couple of months and I just can't believe it. But with that she can help mom, at least a little bit once her baby sister arrives.

Helping
This past week I went to my first quilt guild meeting and felt so inspired, that I'm going through my stash and scraps to find the perfect fabric to start creating baby quilts and quilts for those newly diagnosed with breast cancer. It feels so good that I can help contribute to someone in a time of need with my crafting ability.

Forgetting
I have pregnancy brain so I feel like I'm always forgetting something! This week it just so happened that I forgot about a haircut appointment, luckily I was able to reschedule and hopefully I won't forget the second time around.

Switching
Gears to get ready for baby. This mostly includes finishing up projects around the house and sewing up a few new things for baby girl.

Relying
On God and my hubby to get me through the next few weeks until baby girl makes her debut.

2017 New Quilt Blogger Blog Hop

for the last several weeks i have been participating in the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop, hosted by Yvonne ( Quilting Jet Girl ), Beth ( Cooking Up Quilts ), and Leanne ( She Can Quilt ). while i have been blogging for a little while, this blog hop has been great to hone my blogging skills and meet other quilt bloggers. i have been crafty most of my life, i even learned to sew when i was younger. but it didn't really stick. after college i was living in Iowa and on a whim i bought a cheap sewing machine and began a back and forth with sewing. fast forward a few years, i got married and pulled that sewing machine out again and this time actually made a quilt top (that sat for at least 3 years before i quilted it). sewing again was pushed to the side as i was finishing my master's program and job hunting.  well after landing a job, moving, looking for a house. we found out we were expecting. though it was not to be and i miscarried in march 2011. during the next ye

Buffalo Plaid Quilt : A Finished Quilt

my last big Christmas gift is done! this year i wanted to make my BIL and SIL quilts, as i've made quilts for the kiddos, i figured it was their turn for a quilt. well i needed one more masculine quilt and i've always wanted to make a buffalo plaid quilt so this was perfect! at first i was not looking forward to making this one, with all of the cutting and putting the small squares together. but after some thinking i decided i would strip piece and streamline the process. i was able to piece the top together in one day as opposed to multiple days if i would have cut individual squares. i love this quilt, of course i now want to make one for myself, but that will be for another time. Quilt Stats Pattern: designed by me, inspired by buffalo plaid scarves and quilts Dimensions: 61.5 inches x 74.5 inches Quilting: Straight line echo Fabric: Moda Bella solids, Black, Gray, Bleached White, and Marigold for the binding Happy Sewing!

Bonnie & Camille Sampler Quilt | A Finished Quilt

so last year i taught a BOM at my local quilt shop. i had already made up the sample quilt, so i needed to make blocks along with my students. well thank goodness for a couple of Bonnie & Camille layer cakes just waiting for the perfect project. the blocks are for the Vice Versa Sampler Quilt from AnnaMarie Chaney ( here is my original quilt ) but this time i decided use the Bonfire Sampler (also from AnnaMarie Chaney) setting for this set of blocks. i love those big HST they just work for this quilt! i just love this quilt and always knew it would be given to someone. i just didn't know who that someone would be. well as i was quilting this up, it finally occurred to me who i would send this along too. when we moved, one of the girl's church grandmas was rather heartbroken that we were moving. so i sent this to her as a surprise and when it showed up she called telling me that this just made her day! and that right there is why i quilt!
