Last of the Mini Swaps for 2015

I have finished all of my swaps for 2015! I worked this week to finish up extras and stitching on bindings and labels. I'm kinda excited to start sending these mini's out into the world. First up is my mini for The Most Wonderful Time of the Year 2015 swap. I was so happy when my partner stated that she liked Holly's Tree Farm by Sweetwater, since I was planning on getting a charm pack anyway it worked perfectly. For this swap I wanted to test the waters and try paper piecing. Oh, how I love paper piecing. Yes, a little time consuming and can be a bit wasteful, but the results are wonderful! I did a practice piece, which I turned into a pillow cover for myself before diving in for my swap.  I used the Circle of Geese block from Piece by Number. I added a border to frame out the block and did some different quilting, which I will be doing again. I love how it turned out and hope my partner will enjoy her new Christmas mini. Next up, finished my Schnitzel

WiP Wednesdsay : Current List

In an effort to get a handle of my growing number of wip's I decided it would be best to just list them out. Nora's Bed Quilt Just need to getting backing fabric and quilt, my goal is to have this done by her 3rd birthday in December! Belated wedding quilt for my brother and sister-in-law, goal to have it done no later than Christmas. Christmas quilt for a gift to my hubby. I have made plenty of quilts but not one just for my hubby, I think with all of his hard work he deserves one! Geeky Science Craft Swap, going to try my hand at cross stitch for the first time and if that fails I have a back up plan. I need to have this one done by January. That's all for now, plenty to work on in the next few weeks. Here's to hoping my girls cooperate and take their usual naps during the week! Happy Sewing! Color the Rainbow: A Lizzy House Quilt

I am a HUGE fan of Lizzy House. I love all of her fabric, so bold and saturated with color. And she uses the entire rainbow of colors. So for awhile now, since I started sewing back in 2011 I have been gathering (hoarding) Lizzy House fabrics. Well this summer for the #MyPreciousQAL I decided it was finally time to cut into my stash of Lizzy fabric and create a one of a kind quilt. So I did and I love what it has become. I used the Summer Slice tutorial from Cluck Cluck Sew as my pattern. Not a hard pattern, but when sewing with 2 small kiddos, sewing can take a backseat (and with plenty of swap sewing thrown in as well). By the end of the summer I had a top complete and even had the back done. A few weeks later I even had my huge batting order come in, but did I baste that quilt and just get it done, of course not! I instead worked on a whole host of other projects and it Well this week I decided it was finally time to get this week done! I love the saturated colors and it f

WiP Wednesday : Falling Triangles Mini

I have been trying to finish up swap sewing and quilting so I can return to more sewing and quilting for my family and myself. I finished stitching up this mini quilt top for my Schnitzel & Boo mini quilt swap partner. I've had an idea for a falling triangle mini quilt in my head for awhile, so when I started drawing up ideas I decided it was time to give this one a try. And I must say I am loving how it is turning out. The mini will measure 20x20 inches when it's done. Now to just get backing fabric so I can start quilting and write a pattern for this one! Friday Finishes

Lately I have not been very good at posting about my latest sewing ventures. I have been sewing a lot in fact, just not writing. I guess that happens when you have an almost 3 year old and a 7 month old baby. This is just part of this season of life, but I'm trying to make a more concerted effort to write in this space, especially since I'm trying to get a new business idea off the ground. Without further ado, a few finishes from the last few weeks: I made this quick and simple baby quilt about two weeks ago for a baby shower. Just used some basic building blocks to make it. Love how it turned out considering I was taking it out of the dryer at 4 in the afternoon the day of the shower! I sure do like to cut it close. Another baby quilt for a shower I attended last weekend. For this one I used Fat Quarter Shop's free pattern Fat Quarter Fizz and just made the baby size. Best thing about this one, I pulled it entirely from my stash! And finally I finished up
